ISAC 2008 Summary:

Set in the ancient and beautiful city of Budapest, this year's international conference of flow included forums and lectures around the theme Cytometry in the Age of Systems Biology, and spirited debate on the latest industry innovations and analytical cytometry standards.

Tree Star's booth was popular as ever, due partly to our growing cadre of knowledgeable application representatives and the new acquisition software driving Cytek instruments, but mostly due to our industry-leading t-shirts. Following the European Cup fervor, cytometry All-Stars like Robinson, Shapiro, Roederer & Givan were immortalized in rayon. The Wii box has officially replaced the CyberCafe as our contribution to the biennial cytometry madhouse of science. Congratulations to Alessandra Cattaneo of Milano, Italy for winning our iPod Touch contest, and to Spain for taking the European crown for the first time since 1964!

It was good to see both old and new faces. We presented two data analysis tutorials that were popular and we hope, useful, despite the lack of $22 box lunches. For more details and photos of the event, see our posting on MyCyte.org

Release Updates:

FlowJo 7.5 is in public beta testing phase. We are looking for venturesome FlowJocks to download our daily build and take it for a spin. Tell us what you think!

This release contains support for multiple CPUs, more robust modeling platforms, a redesigned layout editor, improved preferences, instrument control and acquisition support, heat maps and correlation plots, and many other exciting features for you to explore.

Version 7.5 is the first commercial analysis package to support new open gating standards. New concatenation tools allow users to squeeze together data from several tubes/wells into a single FCS data file. FlowJo 8.7.3 is also available, offering file concatenation for Mac.

To find out more, take a look at The Daily Dongle:  How the New Concatenation Works.
